Koshi Tanrei (越淡麗) was developed by Niigata prefecture from Yamada Nishiki and Gohyakumangoku, to give local brewers a rice that polishes well enough for daiginjo while keeping Niigata's clean style.
In the glass: elegant and clean, with a little more breadth than Gohyakumangoku.
